So a little bit about us…
We’re a church – a collective of people exploring faith, meaning and belonging in the world we find ourselves in. For some of us, belief comes easily; for others of us, it’s more complicated. We try to be honest with our questions and our hopes, our doubts and our beliefs while doing our best to look after each other in ways that are kind and safe. We know church hasn’t always felt that way for everyone, so we’re trying to figure this out together.
In a world that often feels frantic and fragmented, we think that nurturing meaningful community is still a radical and life-giving act. When we gather, we sing, we pray in the ways we know how, we share meals, and we keep exploring the loving, compassionate, inclusive, disruptive and justice-oriented life and message of Jesus.
We will always have room at our table for more, regardless of your day job, social background, age, whakapapa, church experience, sexuality or gender identity (and we affirm the full participation of our rainbow whānau). If you’re curious about faith, returning after a long time away, or simply looking for a place that makes room for you, that’s the kind of community we hope to be.
We believe in the power, energy and inspiration of collective wisdom and embrace a collaborative leadership style. Our Kaitiaki help to look after the ethos and values we have established together while the day-to-day mahi of community life sits with Michael Frost. But as a community of equals, everyone is encouraged to chip in and help nurture the place.
In short, here’s what we value.
WONDER
To see the world with eyes of wonder, to live with curiosity and an openness to change
BELONGING
To affirm the dignity, value, and inherent goodness of people so that we are free to belong in a way that is real and authentic
MANAAKITANGA
To be a mana enhancing community who invite collaboration, honour the heart of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and cherish Papatūānuku
